Lawrence A. Read : CEO

Lawrence A. Read


Lawrence Read is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Oil Changer, Inc., one of the largest, independently owned quick lube chains in the United States.

Starting production in 1986 with three employees, Oil Changer now employs over 400 employees with stores in Northern and Southern California.

Oil Changer is an Inc. 500 company and was selected as the 20th fastest growing privately held company in America during the past five years. Mr. Read was also awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award sponsored by Merrill Lynch, Ernst & Young, and the University of California.

Mr. Read is a charter member of the AOCA. He has been a leading entrepreneur in the insurance brokerage industry, founding IRI Marketing in 1969 and held the position of President and Chairman of the Board until 1982. In 1979, he was named to "Who's Who" in the insurance industry and has received numerous industry-marketing awards. Mr. Read serves on the Board of 3 companies and currently is the Chairman of the Audit Committee of Presidential Life Insurance Company in New York.

Mr. Read is a graduate of Linfield College. He is married to his wife, Janet and has two children, 28 years and 27 years. He resides in Alamo, California.

Charles N. Pass : CFO

Charles Pass is Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors for Oil Changer, Inc. Prior to joining the Company in 1989, Mr. Pass had been Vice President of Finance and Administration for Milne Trucking Company, a subsidiary of Sun Carriers, commencing in 1985.

Mr. Pass is a Certified Public Accountant who has worked with several regional and national accounting firms. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts. Mr. Pass graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in accounting.

Eric Frankenberger : President/COO

Eric Frankenberger has served as President and COO for Oil Changer, Inc. since December 2004. His vast experience in the company and the oil changing industry has propelled him into one of the highest positions within the management team of Oil Changers. His strong background includes serving two years as a Lube Technician, 1 year as an Assistant Manager, 5 years as Service Center Manager and prior to his current position; he also served 4 successful years as Regional Manager for our San Diego Region. In addition to overseeing the day to day operations of Oil Changers, Eric is also a certified member of the Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) and is actively involved with the Association as Co-Chair of Education. He has helped to implement national standards for the industry and written training documents used by technicians across the country. Eric has been a speaker at multiple national conventions and written several articles for the AOCA regarding industry best practices. In 2015 Eric Frankenberger was announced Operator of the Year and attributes this achievement to surrounding himself with outstanding people who carry the right Attitude, Pride & Enthusiasm.

Dennis Blom : VP Controller

VP Controller

Dennis Blom has served as Vice President and Controller for Oil Changer since October 2010. Dennis joined Oil Changer in January 1994 and has held many different positions during his many years with the company. Dennis’s first job with Oil Changer was in the Accounts Payable department but he soon also began teaching POS Classes to new employees. After a couple of years in A/P, he moved on to serve as Field Auditor where he had a chance to visit all of the Oil Changer stores. Two years later, Dennis was asked to return to the office to become Accounts Receivable supervisor. After just three months in A/R, Dennis was moved to the position of Accounting Manager. He served in this capacity for several years prior to his promotion to VP Controller. Before joining Oil Changer, Dennis spent ten years working as an Accountant for Chevron Corporation. While working for Chevron in Texas, he studied for and passed the CPA exam. Dennis left Chevron to get a teaching credential after which he worked for two years as a High School Math teacher. Mr. Blom graduated from Houston Baptist University in 1980 with degrees in Accounting and Mathematics.

Pedro Muniz : VP Human Resources

Pedro Muniz is currently part of Oil Changer’s Management Team in the capacity of VP Human Resources. Pedro has been part of the Oil Changer family for over 22 years with over 19 years of industry experience in human recourses working in different areas from personnel, payroll, worker’s compensation and safety, benefits administration, government regulations and public policy. He is a graduate from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Human Resources.

John Denholm : Environmental Compliance Officer

Environmental Compliance Officer

John Denholm has been our Environmental Compliance Officer since 2004. John has been a true rising star at Oil Changer. In 1996, while a 16 year-old high school student, he began a part-time position at our Pleasanton Service Center where he primarily washed the windows and checked the tire pressure on customer vehicles. Once starting college at the University of San Francisco in 1999, he moved from his position at the service center to our corporate office in the Information Systems department. In 2003, John graduated form USF and shortly thereafter, was promoted to his current position. John currently serves as the Chairman of the Automotive Oil Change Association’s Government Affairs Committee and contributes regularly to industry publications. Besides his ongoing commitment to helping Oil Changer stay in environmental compliance and remain a responsible business within the local community, he regularly works with different levels of local, state and federal agencies to promote environmentally friendly business practices for the quick lube industry.

Amani McCockran : Regional Manager

Amani is Regional Manager of our East Bay Area region which services a combined volume of over 67,000 vehicles annually. He started as a Lube Technician in 1999 and quickly joined our Manager in Training Program. Over the years he has moved through the ranks from managing our Richmond location for over 5 years, to becoming an Area Training Manager, to serving as Regional Manager, which he has held since 2008. Amani has trained countless employees throughout the company and has helped Oil Changers achieve a high level of customer service. Amani is also a certified member of the AOCA.

Josh Goins : Regional Manager

Josh is the regional manager for our San Diego region. Even though he only has four facilities, he has a very strong presence in the area with annual volume of over 37,000 vehicles serviced per year and thousands of happy customers. Josh joined us as a Regional Manager in 2005 but prior to this, he had been part of our organization for the past 5 years with 4 years as Manager. Josh’s dedication to providing the best possible service to each and every customer has kept our strong presence in the San Diego region. Josh is also a certified member of AOCA.

Fred Franklin : Regional Manager

Fred Franklin has been the regional manager of our South Bay Area since 2013. Fred started his career with Oil Changers in 2003 at our San Diego location where his determination and great efforts launched him into management almost immediately. In mid 2004 Fred was called to work at our El Cajon location as the assistant manager and before the year ended Fred was promoted to store manager where he ran that location for 9 successful years. In 2006 Fred was awarded the prestigious Manager Of The Year Award which was gained by The high energy atmosphere he created amongst his staff and tremendous store growth both in profits and store personnel. Fred has also been apart of various service/equipment training programs company wide. Fred's great natural ability to be self motivated along with a polished managerial skill set and experience has propelled him into one of the highest positions in our management team. Fred prides himself in building people up, edifying them and bringing out their best. Fred's motto is "Whatever you do be the best at it"

Mario Gonzalez : Regional Manager

Mario is another great asset to our management team. He rounds out the group in the Operations Management Team. Mario manages our Fresno area where he has been recognized as a leader servicing well over 20,000 vehicles per year. He is one of our most experienced Regional Managers with over 6 years as part of our management team, 7 years as Service Center Manager and over 16 years combined experience with Oil Changer. His Clovis, CA. store is one of our model stores when it comes to being “a local neighborhood store”. Mario is well-known in the Clovis area because of his great relationship with the Clovis community. Mario has been keeping thousands of happy customers coming back to our Fresno Service Centers and continues adding more each day with great customer service. Mario wants his customer for life, not just for one visit. He is also a certified member of AOCA.
